Fen Contracts – Where everything’s under control!
“When we leave a site, I want to be able to look around and think ‘This is a good job and I am happy to pay the bill for the work that has been done here.’ If you get the job right and do it consistently, people with employ you.”
– Chris Theobald, Director, Fen Contracts Ltd.
Earlier this year we were featured in the Spring 2016 publication of essentialARB.
The spotlight was on Fen Contracts with a center page spread in the Forestry Journal’s, Arboriculture focused magazine.
Chris Theobald said “as well as a multitude of tree and devegetation works, we provide a variety of attendance and enbabling works.”
With operational support from Andy Pope and Jonathan Peachy, Sales and Operations, Molly Brown, SHEQ co-ordinator, Chris and his wife Heidi run a strict, health and safety focused operation.
Covering works north of the Thames all the way into Kent, Fen Contracts have a multitude of highly skilled staff. As part of the ongoing development of the business staff are PASMA and IPAF qualified. “We can even provide operatives with Chapter 8 Signing, Lighting and Guarding qualifications,” says Chris, proudly.
Along with their BN ISO 9001, Network Rail (RISQS), and Railway Contractors accreditations Fen Contracts is set to develop into a highly qualified organisation providing fantastic customer service and in-house Safety Critical staff.
Some of their current clients include VolkerFitzpatrick, Costain, UK Power Networks, AMCO Ltd and Carillion plc. They also provide small bespoke works for residential areas.
Chris told essentialARB “around 30% of our work is site vegetation management and clearance. 70% is from railway vegetation management and civil engineering projects, including some under five-year multi-functional framework agreements.”
From one client and one office in 2011, to opening a second office and working for a wide range of clients in 2016, Chris did not imagine that Fen Contracts would have the current team or be in the successful position that they find themselves in today. In typically understated fashion, he says of the future, “if we continue to work hard, diversify, impress our clients and build on our reputation, then it is going to be good.”
Fen Contracts Ltd is one to watch.
